We are serving the Metro Area including Washington DC, Prince George’s County, Howard County, Montgomery County and Anne Arundel County residents, and have been successfully providing marriage counseling in the African-American community for over 15 years. We also provide our clients Individual and Family counseling.

Psychologist, Author, Speaker and Founder of African American Marriage Counseling
He approaches couples counseling in a fashion that helps to identify and effectively resolve the root causes of the issues that undermine their marriages, such as restoring their connection, learning to prioritize each other, and making choices that create win/win scenarios that renew their relationship.
A highly sought after speaker and expert on African American relationships, Dr. Shane is a regular contributor to media outlets ranging from the nationally syndicated Bev Smith Show, to ABC2 The Point , XM Radio, Black Voices, the Washington Times, the Washington Post, and Essence Magazine. He currently Blogs on relationship related issues for BlackMarriedwithKids.com, the Psychology Today magazine and the Examiner.com on. At the 2009 Congressional Black Caucus, he was a featured keynote speaker at Congresswoman Norton’s Black Caucus Brain Trust, and recently starred as Guest expert in “You Saved Me” the documentary film about black marriages.
Dr. Shane is a psychologist and coach who has dedicated more than 17 years to helping couples transform their marriages. He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Ohio State University and did his Internship at Johns Hopkins Medical Center and the Baltimore Veterans Administration Medical Center. He completed his undergraduate studies at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.
In addition to maintaining a thriving practice in Greenbelt, MD, he frequently conducts relationship workshops and trainings. He is currently working on his second book, The Uncivil War: What Has Happened to Marriage In Black America with Nisa Muhammad and Jamila Bey.
Most importantly, Dr. Shane is passionate about helping couples save their relationships and marriages. He brings a wealth of humor, insight and perspective to the therapy sessions, media interviews, speaking events and marital workshops.
